in your kitchen,
lighting cigarettes on your stove.
i'm thankful for
or your arms wouldn't be
holding me close.
time is as long as
this cigarette will allow -
is here & now.
with each flick
of my wrist,
my eyes do the same -
from your clothes
to your oceanic eyes
to your sunken in face.
i want your taste -
but ashes linger
in my mouth
& your hand headed south
& i guess we were playing
i searched for the words
to fill your
but you searched for
my body's beginning
to connect its dots.
lighting cigarettes on stoves is frustrating when you're intoxicated, have never done it before, & don't even smoke.
This is just perfect. Seriously. I know I'm way late to the game but this is a completely deserving DD. Bravo.
Beautiful <3 I love poetry
This...is so beautiful!!!!!!
You've created very vivid imagery with such simple words. It's amazing how powerful and effective something can be when the right words are used. Excellent writing, you've just got yourself a new follower!
thank you so much for the positive feedback, you're much too lovely. i'm glad you like it!
Congrats on the DD! This piece is incredible.
thank you for the feature, it made me smile.
poetical condition never leaves me starved of new artists to discover, too.
This is such an interesting poem. The allusion of smoking to romance, in my mind, is unusual and that is what makes the scene so amazing as well.
Congrats on the DD! This is really great!
thank you for the kind words, that means a lot to me.
Wow, this poem is amazing! I loved the melodious flow, and, correct me if I'm wrong, is this about how a woman wants to figure out a man's mind and a man wants to figure out a woman's body?
- Congrats on the DD!
Have a nice day!
thank you so much!! i actually didn't even know 'til you commented! <33

the implications of this are so different from its imagery; i really love how you have to look a bit deeper to find them.
I love this, really pretty imagery and it has a great structure and flow
